Dark circles under the eyes
Dark circles stem from several factors.
With age the skin under the eyes becomes thinner allowing the blood vessels to show through.
Hereditary disorders of pigmentation may cause these circles.
A pigment, hemosederin might deposit in the skin causing this discoloration.
Also, wrinkles may cause shadows making the area below the eyes appear darker.
Several methods or combination therapy may be employed to treat these dark hallows.
These include depigmenting agents, lasers, and peels.
Botox or fillers may be used if wrinkling and shadows intensify the shadows.
The patient is advised rest for at least 8 hours daily although the effect of rest might be debated.
